A. Course Description:
Biology is a survey of biology.
B. Course Objectives/Methods:
Biology is a broad overview of the life sciences. It includes a general history of biology, analysis and understanding of the scientific method and its applications, the science of history and an overview of human anatomy. A focus is to look at the philosophical assumptions and effects of scientific theory on history.
C. Course Goals:
Students will be able to do the Following:
- Reach reasonable and intuitive conclusions by performing experiments following the scientific method.
- Apply the scientific method to a variety of situations, including
- o Examining the evidence of various views as to the origin of man.
- o Analysis of biological systems in a variety of species
- Summarize and concisely express written information
- Form arguments into persuasive, precise, written form
- Cultivate a greater awareness of the majesty and power of our Creator.
- Describe biological processes that occur on the cellular level and in the five kingdoms.
- Demonstrate an inquisitive nature that wonders why things in nature happen as they do.
- Demonstrate the analytical faculties to answer said inquiries without much background.
- Construct arguments in favor of and against held positions
- Articulate their Christian worldview with regards to Biology well
- Answer biological and scientific questions concisely and beautifully in written and oral form.
