A. Course Description:
General Science is a survey of science, emphasizing the historical sciences as well as life science.
B. Course Objectives/Methods:
General Science is a broad overview of science. It includes a general history of science, analysis and understanding of the scientific method and its applications, the science of history and an overview of human anatomy. A focus is to look at the philosophical assumptions and effects of scientific theory on history.
C. Course Goals:
Students will be able to do the Following:
- Apply the scientific method to a variety of situations, including:
- The historicity of books.
- The fundamental laws of the universe.
- Reach reasonable conclusions by performing experiments following the scientific method.
- Cultivate a greater awareness of the majesty and power of our Creator.
- Read, understand, and outline written information.
- Construct arguments in favor of and against personally held positions.
- Form arguments into logical, written form.
- Develop an interest in observing life around them in nature and in humanity.
- Develop an inquisitive nature that wonders why things in nature happen as they do.
- Develop the analytical faculties to answer said inquiries without much background.
- Answer basic questions logically from known information.
