Providence currently offers three different sports for upper school students. In the fall we offer girls volleyball as well as boys and girls cross country, while in the winter we offer boys and girls basketball. Grammar school students have the opportunity to participate in cross country as well as junior varsity boys and girls basketball.

At Providence, athletics are another way in which we seek to develop rich and meaningful community. Seeking unity and collaboration between coaches, teachers, parents, students, and administrators, we strive to use the common goals of athletic excellence and character development as one context in which we may fellowship together.

Providence participates in the Metro Athletic Conference (MAC) and is a member of the Missouri Christian School Athletic Association (MCSAA) and affiliate member of the Missouri State High School Activities Association(MSHSAA).

Providence’s athletic director is Mr. Kyle Keating.

All students 1-12 are welcome to participate in Cross Country.  Cross country is led by volunteer coaches: Steve Dernlan, a former college wrestling champ and seasoned trail runner, and his wife, Heather, who also works as PE instructor for Providence.  The season lasts from the start of the school year through mid October. 1-8 students run in a league with St. Louis area Lutheran schools.  Students in grades 9-12 run in MSHSAA meets.

For the last two years, Providence Cross Country teams have run and finished well in the NACA Cross Country Championships in Dayton, TN.

The Providence girl’s volleyball team is coached by Clark Stout and Jackie Hibbler.  The team plays against various local private schools each fall.  Interested students in grades 7-12 are invited to participate.

Our basketball teams play against local schools at the Junior Varsity and Varsity level. The level of competition depends on the boys and girls currently enrolled and participating in basketball at Providence, and at the schools with which we compete.  Currently, basketball is open to students in grades 5-12.
